With HRT injections, we are able to change the dosage based on how you are responding to hormone replacement therapy. Regular checks to make sure you are getting the right dosage also means we can monitor and evaluate both your hormone levels and your general well-being.
Pellets are compounded estradiol or testosterone that are made from organic plant materials, which have the exact molecular structure of those hormones found in the body. They are pressed into a solid compound that is about the size of a cooked grain of rice. Using a painless office procedure, they are inserted under the skin in the hip area. The pellets release small amounts of hormone directly into the bloodstream over a period of 3 Months.
The Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) of 2002 resulted in misinformation about the safety of hormone replacement therapy and spurred unnecessary fears that all hormone replacement therapy increased the risk of breast cancer and heart disease in women. A combination of medical misinterpretation and media sensationalism caused many women and doctors to abandon hormone therapy altogether and, as a result, did a disservice to women’s health. Since the WHI results were released, much more is known about the safety of hormone replacement therapy and the medical community has acknowledged the shortcomings of the study and its subsequent spread of misinformation. As with any medical treatment, it’s always important to review any potential risks as well as benefits of the treatment with your provider. When done properly, hormone replacement therapy can be an effective treatment for perimenopause and menopause symptoms and can also alleviate some chronic health risks. During your office visit, your provider will review your health history, symptoms and lab work and will work with you to help determine if hormone replacement therapy is right for you.

They explained all of the side effects in depth and gave me a prescription for Zofran to help manage nausea just in case I needed it (I never needed it). I went in every 4 weeks and they assessed my side effects as well as my progress and adjusted my dosage accordingly. It was the best experience and I lost 38 pounds in 5 months!!
