Signs of Hormonal Imbalance

Hormonal changes can affect many aspects of how you feel, including your energy, mood, sleep, weight, sexual health, and overall well-being. While hormone levels naturally change throughout life, persistent symptoms may be a sign that your hormones should be evaluated.

Common symptoms of hormonal imbalance may include fatigue, changes in mood, difficulty sleeping, weight changes, decreased libido, changes in muscle mass, hot flashes or night sweats, and difficulty concentrating. Because these symptoms can have many possible causes, a comprehensive evaluation is important before beginning treatment.

At Optimal Health & Wellness, we take a personalized approach to hormone health. Your provider will review your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and appropriate lab results to better understand what may be contributing to how you feel.

If hormone replacement therapy is appropriate, we develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and monitor your response over time. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy may be one treatment option for both men and women experiencing symptoms associated with hormonal changes. Our goal is to help patients throughout Leawood, Overland Park, and the Kansas City area better understand their hormone health and determine an appropriate path forward.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Injections

Hormone replacement therapy injections are one treatment option that may be recommended based on your individual hormone levels, symptoms, health history, and treatment goals.

Injection therapy allows your provider to individualize your dosage and make adjustments based on how your body responds to treatment. Regular follow-up appointments and appropriate lab testing help monitor your hormone levels, symptoms, and overall response to therapy.

At Optimal Health & Wellness, your treatment plan is personalized to your individual needs and monitored over time to help determine whether adjustments are appropriate.

Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy

Hormone pellet therapy is another hormone replacement option that may be appropriate for some patients. Small pellets containing hormones such as estradiol or testosterone are placed beneath the skin during a brief in-office procedure and gradually release hormones over time.

Because hormone pellets provide a sustained release, they may be an option for patients who prefer not to follow a regular injection schedule. The appropriate dosage and treatment frequency depend on your individual hormone levels, symptoms, health history, and response to therapy.

Your provider will discuss the available hormone replacement therapy options with you and help determine whether injections, pellet therapy, or another approach is most appropriate for your individual needs.

Understanding Hormone Therapy Safety

Hormone replacement therapy has been studied extensively, and our understanding of its potential benefits and risks has continued to evolve over time.

Hormone therapy is not appropriate for every patient. Factors such as your age, symptoms, medical history, personal and family health history, hormone levels, and the type of therapy being considered may all play a role in determining whether treatment is appropriate.

At Optimal Health & Wellness, hormone replacement therapy begins with an individualized evaluation. Your provider will review your symptoms, health history, appropriate lab results, and potential benefits and risks before recommending treatment.

If hormone replacement therapy is appropriate for you, your treatment plan will be personalized to your individual needs and monitored over time. Follow-up evaluations and appropriate lab testing allow your provider to assess your response to treatment and make adjustments when medically appropriate.

If you have questions about the potential benefits or risks of hormone replacement therapy, we encourage you to discuss them with your provider during your consultation.

Why Choose Optimal Health & Wellness for Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Choosing the right provider is an important part of hormone replacement therapy. Hormone health is highly individual, which is why treatment should begin with a thorough evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

At Optimal Health & Wellness, we take a personalized approach to hormone health for both men and women. Our providers evaluate your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, appropriate lab results, and individual goals to better understand what may be contributing to how you feel.

If hormone replacement therapy is appropriate for you, we develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs. Depending on your evaluation, treatment may include hormone injections, bioidentical hormone pellet therapy, or another approach recommended by your provider. Your progress is monitored over time through follow-up evaluations and appropriate lab testing.

Our goal is to help you better understand your hormone health and provide medically supervised care tailored to your individual needs.

Optimal Health & Wellness proudly provides hormone replacement therapy for patients in Leawood, Overland Park, and throughout the Kansas City area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) uses hormones that are chemically identical in structure to hormones naturally produced by the human body. Treatment is personalized based on factors such as your symptoms, health history, lab results, and individual needs.

Symptoms associated with changing hormone levels may include fatigue, mood changes, difficulty sleeping, decreased libido, weight or body composition changes, difficulty concentrating, hot flashes, night sweats, and changes in overall well-being. Because these symptoms can have many possible causes, an evaluation is important before beginning treatment.

Determining whether hormone replacement therapy is appropriate typically begins with a review of your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and appropriate lab testing. Your provider can use this information to evaluate potential causes of your symptoms and discuss treatment options with you.

Hormone replacement therapy can be administered in several ways. At Optimal Health & Wellness, treatment options may include hormone injections and bioidentical hormone pellet therapy. Your provider will recommend an approach based on your individual needs, health history, hormone levels, and treatment goals.

Response to hormone replacement therapy varies from person to person. Some patients may notice changes in certain symptoms earlier than others, while additional changes may occur gradually. Follow-up evaluations and appropriate lab testing help your provider monitor your response and make adjustments when necessary.

Hormone replacement therapy has potential benefits and risks, and it is not appropriate for everyone. Your individual health history, symptoms, risk factors, and treatment options should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare provider. At Optimal Health & Wellness, treatment is individualized and monitored over time to help determine that therapy remains appropriate.
